It's Monday again.
Now, I've never been much of a Monday-fan - perhaps conditioned to dislike it from bygone days of having to go to school? - but Mondays do have some positive connotations, too (believe it or not).
They are the start of something new, a beginning, almost like a new chance.
In my case, a new chance to get sorted. Weekends have this weird effect on me. I'm not the most organised person to begin with, but on weekends, things go haywire. Daily routine is abandoned, to-do lists are ignored, chores put off till later (or Monday, as it were). Particularly if the weather's nice outside.
Now, you might shake your head and give me a disappointed sigh on that, but there it is. Weekends are a toxic wonderful mixture of too much time and too little planning.
I love it, I really do. Social life happens, the weather's great for sports, nobody from the office calls with new problems/tasks/catastrophes, I get to sleep in (and as anyone who knows me can tell you, I am so not a morning person)....
Great stuff, but fairly chaotic.
I cannot make up my mind whether this is a good thing or not. I've always thought that without a certain amount of chaos, life is unbearably dull (a certain small amount of chaos, mind you). At least that's the way I've always functioned best. I can only ever organise myself up to a certain point.
This, then, is where the new beginning comes into play.
I've made some Monday Resolutions (who needs a new year?):
+ I will get organised (during the week) so that I can fully
(and without any guilt) enjoy my chaotic weekends.
+ I will not let chaos seep into my working week.
+ I will consider writing real work and organise that, too.
+ I will not despair if my schedule turns out over-ambitious
(it always does)
There, I think that covers it all. Like I said, a new week, a new beginning, another chance.
Any resolutions of your own? Any suggestions of what I should add? Don't be shy now, let me know!

I'm a list-maker, so I always have lists of things to do every day of the week. That doesn't mean they get done, though!
Weekly resolutions are a good idea. I especiall like "I will consider writing real work and organise that, too." We have to take our writing seriously if we're going to get anywhere.
I made some New Year's Resolutions that I'm checking on throughout the year and posted them on my blog. :)
I have a daytimer with each week on two pages, and I write down which days I will post my blogs, when I will work on my novel, etc.
I also have a daily to-do list for all my online activity: email, Facebook stuff, stuff on my writing review site (responding to comments, commenting, posting new writing of my own), commenting on other blogs, etc. It helps keep me on task...sort of!
@ Laura - I think I'll steal a page out of your book and start logging my online activity in my day timer... these things get out of hand so easily!
@ Genie - I've tried New Year's Resolutions, but for some reason (perhaps I have a short attention span), the weekly ones work better for me...
I agree, Mondays ARE kind of like a fresh start! :) They don't bother me so much. Except for tending to be the busiest days at work...
My New Years resolution was not to kick myself when I fall behind; a constant state of my affairs.
I like your spin on Mondays, and sorta have to agree. The start of a new work week with new deadlines to meet. Job security, right?
And hey, weekends were created for the purpose of chaotic repose. So enjoy that lack of scheduling, and the opportunity to be whimsical; to just let life come at you on its own terms.
I'm watching your dance/love/sing/live slide show, and thinking you've got the right idea.
Have a carefree weekend Tessa.
